The Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence Program. View the webinar in the archive to learn more about how Community Colleges and Minority Serving Institutions can benefit from participating in the Fulbright Scholar-in-Residence (S-I-R) Program and hear from a panel of S-I-R institutional alumni hosts. The webinar was recorded on March 15, 2023.
The S-I-R Program is a unique Fulbright Scholar Program initiative that is specifically driven by the goals of U.S. institutions of higher education to enhance internationalization efforts on their campuses. Through the S-I-R Program, institutions host a scholar from outside of the United States for a semester or full academic year to teach courses, assist in curriculum development, guest lecture, develop study abroad/exchange partnerships and engage with the campus and the local community. S-I-Rs work across departments and curricula in a variety of ways to widely enhance or expand an existing international program and develop new world area studies programs. |
The Faculty Research Series was created during the COVID-19 pandemic as a series of online interivews to enrich student learning despite the global shut-down. The fourth lecture in the annual “History of Vampire Lore” series was hosted by Andrew Hill who interviewed Matt Fuller, who lectured about the first great vampire movie, 1922's "Nosferatu." Matt presented the making of the film, its reception, and its influence in the context of 1920s Weimar Germany.
Along with the history of the film, they discussed the deeper question: if one was paying close enough attention to the Horror Films of Weimar Germany, could one see the rise of Fascism? Presented by St. Philip’s College Philosophy Club & the University of Otago's NCPACS Student Association. |
The Faculty Research Series was created during the COVID-19 pandemic as a series of online interivews to enrich student learning despite the global shut-down. In the chaotic beginning of the pandemic, we focused on medical ethics, however, we also wanted to broaden the scope of our lecture series. Throughout the year of 2020 we held a series of online presentations and discussions focused on Philosophy and Ethics, but when we reached the fall semester of 2021, we decided to look at ethics across the curriculum and invite some guest speakers from other disciplines to reflect on ethics in their area of expertise.
We reached out to Prof. Allen Lee Hamilton, who teaches history at St. Philip's College, and asked for his perspective. The session was hosted by Andrew Hill, J.D. who interviewed Prof. Hamilton. |

We reached out to Prof. Matthew Mangum at Texas A&M University San Antonio, who previously taught Philosophy and Ethics at St. Philip's College and has a wide range of expertise in business and practical ethics. He suggested the topic of "The Ethics of Sports," an interest he developed when he taught a specialized ethics course at St. Mary's University. The session was hosted by Andrew Hill, J.D. and the interview was conducted by Charlie Langston, M.A. |

We reached out to Prof. Terri Boggess, Ph.D. of the Exercise and Sport Science Department at St. Mary's University, who teaches a specialized course on ethics in her field. She is an advocate for a wholistic approach to health and wellness and has years of experience of teaching and practice. The session was hosted by Andrew Hill, J.D. and the interview was conducted by Marie Feldmeier, Ph.D. |
The Faculty Research Series was created during the COVID-19 pandemic as a series of online interivews to enrich student learning despite the global shut-down. In the chaotic beginning of the pandemic, before there were vaccines, we reached out to Dr. Michael Hill, the brother of Prof. Hill and the Chair of the Ethics Committee at Wadley Regional Medical Center in Texarkana, Texas.
He discussed the public health situation in Texarkana, the current conditions at the hospital, and the ethical decision making process behind the triage of scare resources at the time ( triage is the preliminary assessment of patients or casualties in order to determine the urgency of their need for treatment and the nature of treatment required). The session was hosted by Andrew Hill, J.D. who interviewed Michael Hill, M.D. |
