The College & Community: Partners in Service, sponsored by the Service-Learning Intercollegiate Collaborative (SLIC) and Making Connections of San Antonio, a conference held at the San Antonio office of the American Red Cross.

Service Learning Faculty Luncheon, sponsored by the Center for Civic Engagement at The University of Texas at El Paso.  The topic was how to engage faculty and students through community-based teaching and learning in order to enhance student learning and promote civic engagement.

Closing the Gaps: 21st Annual Recruitment and Retention Conference, sponsored by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.  The topic was how universities could build a greater sense of civic engagement by establishing programs with community partners.

The Annual Conference on International Education Exchange. 
Santa Fe, New Mexico, November 12, 2004.

The National Society for Experiential Education held its annual meeting in Miami, Florida. It was a joint international conference with the International Consortium for Experiential Learning, the second time NSEE has partnered with ICEL.  Attendees were educators and site sponsors involved in internships, service-learning, cooperative education, study abroad, and other forms of active learning. Attendance was over 500, with roundtables, panels, poster sessions, and workshops for the participants.

The Annual NAFSA Conference, whose theme was “Enhancing Leadership and Learning in a Cultural Mosaic,” took place at the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center  with the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter serving as the headquarters.
