2012 Presidential Debate Watch

On-campus, there are a large number of campus fairs and informational events for our students, and faculty members are needed to support our activities and programs.  Off-campus, I have represented NVC at a Service Learning Workshop at Northeast Lakeview College and through the College Connection Program.

College Connection Program at Clark H.S.

On Friday, October 5th, I visited Clark High School here in San Antonio, and visited with three different classes of seniors about college admission and financial aid.  It was a fun afternoon answering questions about Northwest Vista College, and giving advice about higher education in general.  The experience took my back to my days in enrollment management back in the 80's & 90's.

On Tuesday, September 25, 2012, NVC hosted an evening of political discussion and debate between the two candidates for District 117 of the Texas House of Representatives, Philip Cortez (D) and the Honorable John V. Garza (R). I had the pleasure of working with a team that was made up of Craig Coroneos, Mark Camann, Evan Bohl, Carlos Lopez, Melissa Monroe-Young, and - as always - Migdalia Garcia.  We also got great cooperation from AC Police and TLF.

Based on my previous experience as Director of Service Learning at St. Mary's University, Migdalia Garcia asked me to join her for a joint presentation to the faculty of Northeast Lakeview College at the start of the academic year.  We had a small turnout, but a great conversation!
