"We help people make meaningful gifts to improve the quality of life today and for generations to come. We provide a simple, powerful and highly personal approach to giving -- so your gifts impact the community, forever. We contribute to the community through grants and scholarships. We help nonprofits further and strengthen their mission, and we provide leadership for key community issues. We're in the business of building community. We offer three distinct benefits to help you create a philanthropic legacy:
Local expertise
Personalized service
Community leadership
Since 1964, the Area Foundation has distributed millions in grants and scholarships to educate youth, preserve the environment, protect animals, fund research and provide services that enhance the quality of life for people living in and around San Antonio. Helping you give with impact, Establish a fund, give to an existing fund or initiative, make a tribute gift or leave a lasting legacy. The San Antonio Area Foundation is confirmed in compliance with U.S. standards for community foundations."
At St. Mary's University, we successfully applied to the Texas Campus Compact for a three-year grant to fund an AmeriCorp* VISTA volunteer position for our Service Learning Center, and I then joined the Texas Campus Compact committee that in-turn wrote the proposal for the next three-year, $1.5 million “Learn and Serve Grant” from the Corporation for National and Community Service.
