A Special Occasion

Matthew Fuller received the 2017 NISOD Excellence Award for Teaching from the College of Education at the University of Texas at Austin for his teaching at St. Philip’s College. This is a national distinction for distinguished service to his students.

A Special Occasion

On Friday, January 12, 2018, I attended the 6th Annual DreamWeek 2018 Awards Luncheon, where Amal Kassir, a Syrian-American spoken word poet and activist, delivered the keynote address, and where our colleague Mehmet Oguz and the Raindrop Turkish House of San Antonio were honored with a special award at the La Orilla Del Rio Ballroom.

The awards were the focus of the luncheon, "honoring organizations and individuals who embody the DreamVoice mission of advancing the voices of tolerance, equality, and diversity."

I had the honor of attending today's event with my wife Mary Lynne, our son "AJ," and with a former student, Maverick Crawford, who was our 2016 "Outstanding Student Award" recipient for Philosophy at St. Philip's College. He is now a graduating senior at UTSA, working an internship at the courthouse, and looking to start graduate school next year!
